HARARE — Minnie Baloyi-Chiwenga, wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga,
has gifted US$100 to a Zimbabwean woman for a Nando’s meal after a social media exchange.

The recipient, identified only as Rue, had commented on one of Baloyi-Chiwenga’s posts saying she had never tasted Nando’s. She responded by offering to buy her a meal.

Rue was outside Zimbabwe at the time. She later contacted Baloyi upon returning to the country.

Baloyi then sent US$100. The money was received Rue’s birthday.

“Happy birthday Rue, be blessed always. I pray for more Nando’s for you in future,” the Second Lady said in a message accompanying the gift.

Rue bought the Nando’s meal and shared photographs online.

“I got US$100 from Mhamha Minnie Baloyi as a birthday gift and I bought Nando’s as she promised. Best birthday gift ever. One bite and my taste buds threw a party,” Rue said.

The exchange has drawn attention online, with users noting social media’s role in connecting people.
